Grapeseed Volunteer Department
Our Mission
The Grapeseed Volunteer Police Department was founded to assist with handling the day to day law and order of the City of Grapeseed. The GVPD is here to serve every man, woman, chicken and cow of Grapeseed with respect and order. This document will outline and detail the primary operating procedure and restrictions that come with the job as a volunteer officer.
Training and Requirements
All officers of GVPD must be a fully trained Law Enforcement Officer with Chaos Gaming Network. Your officer character must not have ANY Felony charges, violent charges, or egregious traffic offenses and must be LEO certified in the CAD. You must also not have any active points or disciplinary action within the last 30 days at the time of applying. No additional training is required beyond standard LEO certification.
Weapons and Equipment
Uniform / Clothing: Officers are required to wear their GVPD uniform shirt, uniform pants and functional footwear or other functional pants, and functional footwear if running Community Outreach in the Tahoe.
Gear / Equipment: Officers may provide their own duty belt that must contain a radio, handcuffs, and a taser and/or a baton. Officers will also be supplied with a Lidar gun, road flares, spike strips and a medical kit to keep in their vehicles. GVPD does not issue external body armor of any kind and thus it is not to be used.
Weapons / Firearms: Officers will be required to supply their own firearms for duty use and may select any one of the following pistols and long guns:
Hair / Beard / Makeup:
Officers in GVPD are free to wear their hair in any reasonable style as long as they are realistic in color. Facial hair may also be freely used along with any reasonable makeup options. GVPD supervisors or managers reserve the right to determine any clothing, hair, beard, or makeup choices to be unreasonable at any time and may ask you to change your appearance.
Vehicles
GVPD Officers may use any of the following vehicles while patrolling:
Note: All GVPD vehicles are equipped with mounted radar units and officers may use them for any lawful purpose or in the course of their duties.
Note: All officers must remain within their jurisdiction of Grapeseed unless in the following cases:
Transporting an individual under arrest to a prison / jail or any other Government building
Mutual aid at the request of another local department
To assist a fellow officer in peril or initiating / continuing a vehicle pursuit or assisting in an “All Call” situation
All GVPD must go 10-41 or 10-42 from 2009 Grapeseed Main St. It’s the bank.
Law Enforcement Policy
GVPD officers are required to follow all other procedures and policies as listed in the AG Law Enforcement SOP while conducting their service. These include but are not limited to the following:
Proper RTO in LEO frequency; Voice must be spoken normally and clearly
Proper care and custody or any detained or arrested persons or property
Proper use of force as per the “Use of Force Triangle” and AG LEO SOP
All officers must be respectful and courteous as all other LEO departments require
GVPD Officers may ride along with units from other departments as long as the GVPD Officer is the driver.
Community Outreach Officers
Community Outreach Officers specialize in assisting the local farming and fishing community with any issues they may have that require law enforcement. They may patrol as normal GVPD officers but may only drive the Bronco due to the rough roads their jobs require them to frequently drive. CO officers will do their best to maintain a healthy and friendly relationship with Grapeseed’s working class population and ensure work and trade can continue without any external interference. Outreach Officers do not have access to radar units in the Tahoe and should instead focus on their duties in the town proper.
Going Active GVPD
All units will gear up at their designated locations such as the Grapeseed Station and go 10-8 as normal LEO by calling into dispatch or manually in the CAD. GVPD’s designator is “G” or “Golf/George”. Do note that if the AOP is larger than Grapeseed jurisdiction and you are the only available officer you may not run GVPD as you may need to respond to calls in other towns / cities. No more than 2 GVPD cars can be patrolling at once. These can be 2 person cars but the vehicles on the street count cannot exceed 2.
